What's New at IAFF 589
9/11 10th Anniversary Memorial

 

City of Newburgh Firefighters paid respects today to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Today marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on The World Trade Center and The Pentagon as well as the heros who stormed the cockpit of Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. We ask that everyone take time today to reflect on those events 10 years ago.

The City of Newburgh Firefighters would like to thank everyone for a great day of golf and food. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and can't wait to see you all again at next years event. Photos from the golf tournament can be seen here.

Engine 3 Car Fire

On Tuesday August 9,2011 at 1822 hrs Engine 3 was dispatched to Box 475 for a car fire in front of 407 Gidney Ave. Upon arrival Engine 3 found a '99 Toyota Camry with a fully involved engine compartment.    Engine 3 extinguished the fire with an 1 3/4" line and picked up at 1908 hrs.

Mutual Aid To Town of Newburgh


On Wednesday August 3, 2011 at 0852 hrs Engine 1 was dispatched mutual aid to a working structure fire at 8 Marion Dr in the Town of Newburgh. Engine 1 arrives 2nd due and laid 500'  of 4" supply line.    Engine 1 assisted Cromner Valley FD in extinguishing the fire. Engine 1 picked up at 1048hrs.

 

Mock DWI Accident

Members of the City of Newburgh Fire Department, Police Department, Mobile Life, and NFA Drama Club demonstrated the dangers of drinking and driving. This morning, in front of the 2011 senior class of NFA, students realized what drinking and driving could result in when the tarps were pulled away from the cars and the screaming of the "patients" began, immediatly silencing the graduating class.
