August 16, 2007- An Alarm of Fire was transmitted for 109-111 Washington St, the AME Zion Church at 2312 hrs. Upon arrival, Car 4 found heavy fire venting from the steeple and immidiatly transmitted a second alarm brining in Engine 10 and Engine 11 (Truck 10 OOS). Engine 1 stretched an 1 3/4 line through the interior stairs in to the organ loft, and another 1 3/4 line was stretched up the Truck 1's areial directly to the steeple. Companies made a good stop, and the fire was quickly knocked down. Due to the height of the steeple heavy overhaul was required from the tip of the areial. Companies took up at 0144 hrs. Mutual Aid was provided by New Windsor with and Engine and Cornwall with a Ladder to cover the city while companies operated. The fire was caused by a lightning stike to the steeple.
