October 12th and 14th, 2007- Engine Companies 1 and 3 were sent to Stewart Airport to participate in Aircraft Crash and Rescue Training along with Stewart Fire Department. A propane fueled aircraft fire simulator was brought in to recetifiy Stewart FD firefighters. This recetrification is required by FAA every year for airport fire depts. This year Stewart FD invited Newburgh to join in on the training. Newburgh Firefighters participated in all events of this simulated plane crash including extinguishment of fire of both spiled fuel fires and onboard fires, search and rescue, and shutdown procedures.
